Jan Hrubý

BIOSCOP member · crypt defender

died 18 June 1942

Jan Hrubý belonged to BIOSCOP alongside Josef Bublík. After the team’s security was compromised, he hid in Prague and eventually in the Resslova Street Orthodox church. During the German assault on 18 June he defended the crypt, where he died.

BIOSCOP in the Protectorate

Zelenka-Hajský helped the team find accommodation and connected it with Opálka. When it tried to retrieve hidden operational equipment, the Gestapo picked up its trail. Hrubý and Bublík then hid in Prague.

The final refuge

Hrubý was one of the four men in the crypt. When German forces broke through the defence, he took his own life with his pistol.
