From the first apartment to a network of help
turn of 1941–1942
Kubiš and Gabčík needed a safe beginning in Prague. The Růts housed them; Zelenka-Hajský helped find further people and support.
After landing near Nehvizdy, Jan Kubiš and Jozef Gabčík followed contact addresses in the Plzeň region. Václav Král approached Jan Bejbl, who knew Václav Růta. This personal link opened the way to their first documented Prague lodging at Biskupcova 4.
The Růts and Zelenkas lived in separate apartments in the same building. The Růts provided shelter; teacher Jan Zelenka-Hajský drew on Sokol contacts to find further apartments, people, information and supplies. The first meetings’ exact sequence remains uncertain, but these distinct roles are essential to understanding the assistance.

One household could not provide everything. The Moravecs and their courier contacts became another mainstay.
