Vlastimil Moravec

courier and parachutists’ helper · son of Marie and Alois Moravec

died 24 October 1942

Vlastimil Moravec helped the parachutists within his family’s Prague support network, carrying messages and assisting preparations. Following the Biskupcova Street raid, the Gestapo tortured him. His coerced testimony provided a lead to the Resslova Street refuge. He was murdered in Mauthausen in October 1942.

A son in a resistance household

The Moravecs offered their apartment as a base for parachute teams. While Marie arranged lodging and supplies, Vlastimil maintained courier links and helped prepare the attack.

17 June

The Gestapo entered the family apartment in the morning. Marie Moravcová took her own life; Alois and Vlastimil were arrested. After torture, Vlastimil named the Orthodox church as the probable refuge. This cannot be described as voluntary collaboration.

Mauthausen

After imprisonment in Terezín, he and his father Alois were murdered in Mauthausen on 24 October 1942.
