Jaroslav Švarc

TIN member · crypt defender

died 18 June 1942

Jaroslav Švarc belonged to TIN, whose mission was to attack collaborationist minister Emanuel Moravec. In the Protectorate he contacted Adolf Opálka and joined parachutists hiding in Prague. He died in the Resslova Street church crypt on 18 June 1942.

A different mission from ANTHROPOID

TIN had its own target: Emanuel Moravec. After landing, Švarc contacted Opálka and entered the Prague network. He was a TIN member, not an original member of ANTHROPOID.

From refuge to battle

Jindra’s study identifies Švarc as the first parachutist chaplain Vladimír Petřek received at the church. On 18 June he defended the crypt alongside Gabčík, Valčík and Hrubý and died there.
